Why are you running for office?

When I first ran for office in 2019, my primary motivation was to better understand and scrutinize how the city spends our tax dollars. After serving four years on the council, I’ve come to realize the role is far more complex. While I remain focused on fiscal responsibility, I now recognize the equal importance of understanding how spending decisions directly affect quality of life for residents and businesses. My experience has deepened my appreciation for how local planning must account for county, state, and federal economic influences. Smart growth policies that attract a diverse range of businesses are essential to ensuring a healthy, balanced revenue stream—not one overly reliant on a single source. Infrastructure investment is also critical to our city’s long-term success. I approach each decision with an open mind, always seeking the option that best serves the majority. Public safety remains the top priority, but it's important to remember that no department operates with unlimited resources. Every dollar spent must offer a meaningful return on investment. As a councilmember, I focus on real issues that materially impact our city. I’m not interested in spending valuable time debating topics with minimal financial or strategic benefit. I come prepared, and I expect the same from those involved in the discussion. I’m committed to increasing the efficiency of city operations and ensuring that our processes support progress and productivity. My goal is to continue incorporating these priorities into city council discussions, with the aim of making a long-lasting, positive impact on the future of our community. This is the heart of why I’m running for office—plain and simple.

What do you believe are your qualifications for this office?
I truly believe I have the experience and mindset to make a difference. I’ve served in elected office before, so I understand how things work and how to get results. I’ve held leadership roles in all kinds of settings, which has taught me how to listen, collaborate, and solve real problems. I also run a small business, so I know how to manage a budget, make tough decisions, and stay focused on what really matters. Most importantly, I’m someone who communicates openly and honestly—I’ll always be upfront with you and ready to discuss concerns.

Why do you believe you are the best choice for this position?
I believe I’m the best choice for this position because I have a strong understanding of what it really takes to serve on city council. I know the responsibilities, the challenges, and the importance of being a voice for the people. I won’t need any time to get up to speed—I’ll be ready to engage and get to work on day one, no hesitation. I’ll be prepared, committed, and ready to hit the ground running for our community.

What are your top 3 priorities if elected?
Budget Awareness – I’ll make sure we’re using taxpayer dollars wisely and responsibly. That means being transparent, asking tough questions, and focusing on what truly benefits our community.

Public Safety – Everyone deserves to feel safe where they live and work. I’ll support strong partnerships between the city, law enforcement, and the community to keep our neighborhoods secure and responsive to local needs.

Action-Oriented Discussion – I believe in getting things done, not just talking in circles. I’ll bring a practical, results-focused approach to the council to help move good ideas forward and make real progress."

What do you see as the biggest challenges facing the community you seek to represent?
One of the biggest challenges facing our community is how state-level decisions are impacting us at the local level. State legislative mandates and rising state taxes are making it harder for our hard-earned money to go as far as it should. On top of that, we’re seeing pressure from the state to increase housing density—even when that goes against what many of our residents want for their neighborhoods. And let’s not forget the property tax increases, which often come from sources outside the city’s control, yet still hit our homeowners and business owners hard. These are real issues, and we need strong local leadership to push back, protect our community’s values, and make sure our voices are heard.

Describe your duty to the office you are running for and how you will achieve success.
My duty as a councilmember is to lead with integrity, ensure fiscal responsibility, and make well-informed decisions that serve the best interests of our city. Success in this role comes from preparation, collaboration, and action. I come to every meeting ready to engage, debate, and decide. I’m not interested in politics for show—results matter.

My business and construction background allow me to approach city growth and budgeting with a unique, pragmatic perspective. During my last term, I helped manage millions in city budgets, supported key capital projects, and upheld sound fiscal policies. I prioritize public safety, capital improvements, and infrastructure investment, all while preserving the small-town charm that Liberty Lake residents value. I bring a balanced, solutions-focused approach to governance, grounded in both experience and accountability.

What does success look like for this position and what key performance indicators should voters use to evaluate you? Success is measured by completed projects, responsible budgeting, and the overall quality of life in our city. During my last term, I helped move forward the Trailhead Clubhouse rebuild, the new public works building, acquisition of the future library site, and the police guild contract. In the coming term, I’ll focus on finalizing the library facility plan and continuing to address long-term capital needs. Voters should evaluate me based on project completion, fiscal responsibility, and transparent communication.

What is the purpose of government? If elected, how will you perform your duties based on that "purpose"?  The purpose of government is to represent the people and uphold the Constitution. A republic functions through elected representatives acting within the framework of the law. I will continue to base my decisions on the law, community input, and what best serves the majority, while upholding fundamental rights and freedoms.

What community activities are you engaged in? Have you held leadership roles in any of these organizations?
